Saltcoats Museum

The Saltcoats history museum is housed in one of the first churches. The building was constructed in 1890 as the Presbyterian Church. The museum is open by appointment (numbers posted on the door).

Town Bell

The Town Bell was once tolled at 12:00 noon at 6:00pm every day except Sundays from 1911-53. It also signaled town and district fires, 9pm curfew and the end of the two world wars. It is found on Glasgow Avenue.

Legion Park/Arboretum

Take a break at the Legion Park where kids can have fun in the wide-open grassy space. Youth and adults alike can enjoy the labeled variety of trees and shrubs in the memorial arboretum.

Monument and Gunn Park

In July 1919 a committee was formed and built a monument to honor the soldiers of WWI and later WWII. The monument is located on Crescent Lake Road. Relax beside the monument at Gunn Park where you can enjoy the lake scenery.

Cairn and Saltcoats Cemetery/Scattering Garden

On the Yellowhead Route stop at Saltcoats Cemetery and see the cairn which depicts the steps taken in 1890 to limited self-government.

In the well-kept cemetery trace the past over 100 years, starting with the oldest marker in 1877. The scattering garden at the cemetery provides a place for stopping, sitting and reflecting.

Saltcoats Regional Park and The Leflay Trail

Saltcoats Lake (officially called Anderson’s Lake) is a beautiful place to picnic or camp. There is a sandy beach area, and campsites equipped with electrical sites, showers, refuse station, boat launch, playground, and concession. For large gatherings the pavilion is available to rent. The Leflay Trail takes you through typical parkland aspen balsam poplar groves, and at times along the shoreline of the lake. A variety of wildlife populates the area and the trail is accessible from the park.

Wall Mural

The wall mural is hanging on the west wall of the post office building on the Commercial Street. “I Heard it at the Post Office” celebrates the community communications through the years.

Blue Heron House

The Blue Heron House offers relaxing accommodations in a variety of packages. Enjoy their extensive library, decks, beautiful grounds and gardens.
